My camp reflection

Reflection for Camp

My goal for camp was to try to do everything that was a challenge for me.
I did not achieve this because at the final cave there was a massive puddle at the end of it so my shoes were damp and I barely could move.

Something I was pleased with was how no one whined on the long long walks because some people would get headaches and moan.
I really enjoyed learning about  the local legend because the legend of Waikaremoana is pretty cool.
Something I found hard was getting to sleep because Liam kept talking.
Something that made me think was masterchef because I was wondering how long you cook stuff and how much mix to put in the pancakes.

Favourite Things
Reason Why
1. Kayaking

I haven’t been kayaking for a long time like 2 years.
2.  My cake

It was a marble cake, my favorite.
3. chicken drumsticks

They were nice and tender and perfectly cooked.
4. Kaitawa Fudge

It was nice and chocolaty and moist and I like frozen/cold stuff.
5. Boomer trail

Because I haven’t done a proper boomer trail because at Camp Omatoa we got blindfolded.

These are my favorite photos from camp.

I wish...

Wow, I'm actually going to touch a Kiwi!
Mm mm that looks nice.

I'm in the caves right now.

We are lifting the rock!

My Birthday on camp

My B-Day

It’s my birthday today. I awaken at 7:15 am and shuffle inside my sleeping bag into the dining room. ‘Morning’ Mrs.H says to me. I walk towards the couch and sat down and when I’m sitting down, Elijah enters the room with his sleeping bag over his body.

I snatch the Ipod. I’m on a game called Mathmateer,it’s about rockets and maths. I created a new rocket. I call it The Green Hornet. Everything is going to be green. I grab a green body put green boosters on. I take off into the galaxy with my rocket, and fall back down. I give the Ipod to Elijah and Mrs.H shouts ‘If you want any hot chocolate, come get it now’. I grab a cup and Mrs.H pours some into my cup. Suddenly, most people come out of the dorms. I drink and drink. Finished. New record. 1 minute and 23 seconds.

It's me!
Later in the day, room 16 has dinner. I have 10 chicken drumsticks,2 broccoli and 1 potato. Yum yum gimme. I skoff the chicken down and followed by the rest. ‘I got a full tanker’ I laugh to Josh. Finally, my marvelous cake has came! I sit on the couch with Liam next to me and they sing, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Zach. Happy birthday to you.
Liam said salami instead of you and Zach. I cracked up laughing. I make a wish and blow out the candles. I think it’s a marble cake. I take the cake to the kitchen bench and place it down carefully. I got lots of cake and a hunk of ice cream. It is wonderful, not marvelous. Bedtime. We get a bedtime story or what I call some kick-ass pieces of paper stuck together in two pieces of colored cardboard.

I hope you like my piece of writing and here is a tagexdo of my writing it the key words in it.

‘Wow this rock is incredible.’ I shout out loud. Its overhanging us. Mr.M got a photo of the class and most parents lifting the rock (we are just pretending). ‘I want to see more caves like this.’ I say to Dylan. ‘Me too’ Dylan replies. We enter the first cave. It’s like a bunker for the  people in the past. we crouch down and crawl through the tunnel. ‘That was cool.’ I say to Elijah.

After a hour it starts to get good. There's a commando tunnel approaching. I get down on my knees and legs. Its a tight squeeze. But I made it. The last cave is like an actual cave. It is the most biggest cave of all. It had plenty of wetas. There's the exit. I can see it. Wow it's dark I'm stepping out of the cave and Mr.M says
'If you want to do the rope challenge stand behind me and if you want to go back to camp stand behind Mrs.Hill. I chose to go back to camp.

I hope you like my moment in time story of Onepoto caves.

Today is masterchef. I’m so nervous,am I going to fail or going to win? The Lightning Bolts are ready to rumble. ‘Go!’ The judge said. We started preparing the brunch (breakfast) we are making pancakes with lots of peaches surrounding the pancakes. So we started making the mixture and I started grating some chocolate to put on the top of the pancakes.
This is the Lightning bolts.

My group ran outside and picked a  poured the mix onto the frying pan. It was perfect, nice and good it was definitely going to be the judges. We did some more pancakes and ate them and then Mr.M came along and said ‘you aren't supposed to eat them now.’ I realised that we probably need to eat them when we're finished making the dish for the judges. So we finished the dish and waited for the time to run out. waiting, waiting, waiting. Do do do. ‘And stop!’ chef Italiano shouts to us.
These are the judges Mrs America and Chef Italiano.

They come around each table and inspect the pancakes. Then they finally came to our table and they tasted ours and they thought it was nice but it wasn't that perfect I think.

I hope you enjoyed reading my recount of day 2.

Kiwi Creche

WALT choose words that describe a moment (in an exciting way) for the reader
  • begins in the action
  • present tense (I am, not I was)
  • short, sharp sentences
  • strong verbs
  • language features (simile, alliteration, onomatopoeia, metaphor)
  • show personality (sounds like you, humour, feelings, exaggeration)

Kiwi Creche
I’m sitting in the back of the car. Boring. Finally, Kiwi Creche! I hop out of the van and rush over to the entrance we go through the metallic sliding door and enter this shelter called a marae. They let us hold a Kiwi’s egg first and did you know that a Kiwi’s egg is a 3rd of the adult’s body? Then the woman pulls out a green box.‘I think that’s the Kiwi,’ I whisper to Teva. I’m right.

She lifts the Kiwi out of the box and takes it around for everyone to touch. It around to me. I notice that it is clicking its bill. That means that it’s angry. I also notice that its feathers are not as soft as fur because I thought kiwis would be very soft but they aren't. So I learned a lot today about kiwis. Mr.M told us to thank them and go to the toilet if you need too. I didn’t need to go so I ran towards the van.
